Looking beyond Rioja, Priorat stands out as a source of robust, complex wines that speak of their origins. Priorat is one of only two wine regions in Spain to hold the highest DOCa/DOQ classification. The vineyards here have unique llicorella slate soils, which give the wine its characteristic mineral freshness. This benchmark example comes from a small family winery in the heart of the region. They have produced a complex, elegant wine that perfectly reflects the character of Priorat, blending Garnacha, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Try pairing it with braised lamb shanks with roasted peppers, aubergine and herbs.
