The Taste of New Zealand

Description

New Zealand has earned its reputation with cool-climate vineyards producing some of the world's most expressive wines. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc put the country firmly on the global wine map with its distinctive, intense, tropical character that we all know and love. Yet there's much more to discover beyond Sauvignon. Marlborough also excels with delicious, aromatic Riesling, a great introduction to the variety. Travel south to Central Otago and you'll find exceptional Pinot Noir from the world's southernmost vineyards. This collection is a snapshot of New Zealand's diversity.

This set contains:

  • Astrolabe Awatere Sauvignon Blanc (white wine) - One of the most highly regarded wine families in Marlborough, the Waghorns are best known for their stand-out Sauvignon Blancs. From the cool climate Awatere Valley of Marlborough, this has well-defined minerality and acidity, flavours of lime zest, elderflower and fresh herbs with a dry, savoury finish.

  • Whitehaven Riesling (white wine) - Riesling is best known as a German grape variety, but the family-run Whitehaven estate shows that Marlborough's cool climate can produce wines to match the best of them. This is a class act, full of thirst-quenching citrus flavours and refreshing acidity to balance the touch of sweetness. An excellent food match, try it with Asian seafood dishes.

  • Roaring Meg Pinot Noir (red wine) - Established in 1992, Mt Difficulty was amongst the first estates to plant vines in Central Otago. The grapes for this elegant wine come from the estate's sustainably managed vineyards. This cool climate Pinot Noir has red cherry and wild raspberry fruit with a subtle sweet spice and toasty complexity from 10 months ageing in oak barrels.
