The Taste of The Rhône

Description

The Rhône Valley is a major French wine region stretching from Lyon to Avignon. It is divided into the Northern Rhône, known for powerful, aromatic Syrah wines, and the Southern Rhône, famous for Grenache-based blends such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The region has a warm climate influenced by the Mistral wind, producing wines that range from structured and spicy to rich and full-bodied, with both red and notable white styles. This selection features blended wines from the Southern part of the region.

This set contains:

  • Famille JM Cazes Côtes du Rhône Réserve (red wine) - From the owners of Domaine des Sénéchaux in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this is a Southern Rhône beauty. Famille JM Cazes Côtes du Rhône Réserve is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mouvedre, rounded and full-bodied, it’s packed with black and red currant aromas, a hint of liquorice and has a silky-smooth finish.

  • Domaine Coudoulis Dédicace Lirac (red wine) - Lirac lies across the Rhône river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Domaine Coudoulis is a family estate overlooking the town of Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres. A blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah Domaine Coudoulis Dédicace is a vibrant, fruit-forward red that offers a refreshing take on the wines of the Southern Rhône.

  • Chateauneuf du Pape Secret des Princes (red wine) - Probably the most well known appletion in the Rhône Valley Châteauneuf-du-Pape makes both red and white wines with up to 13 different grapes (Unofficially, producers play with up to 20 varieties in their blends.) however red dominates. Chateauneuf du Pape Secret des Princes is produced by the renowned Cellier des Princes cooperative in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025. Complex and elegant with aromas of red currant, red cherries and black berries with spicy overtones such as lavender, thyme and rosemary. Excellent balance in the mouth, tannins are elegant and silky.
