Stonier Chardonnay

Mornington peninsula, Australia, 2017

Fabulous Burgundy Alternative
chardonnay
13.5%
fatty / oily

Description

A modern Australian Chardonnay that's a great alternative to a Burgundy. It comes from the Mornington Peninsula, which has perfect condition for growing Chardonnay, and is full of ripe apple fruit and citrus notes with a subtle touch of oak. An excellent value white and definitely one to try if you’re a Chardonnay fan.

Tasting Note

This Chardonnay is made with minimum intervention and offers ripe apple fruit, citrus notes and subtle toast and smoke from the clever use of oak.

Irish Mail On Sunday

Is this Mornington Peninsula wine the best value Chardonnay in Ireland right now? At this price point it has to be a contender. Note the purity of that (relatively) cool climate fruit? It’s made with minimal intervention, so it's no coincidence. And it's a very, very modern Oz Chardonnay with not even a vestigial memory of syrupy, over-oaked stuff. It leans much more towards Burgundy (and whopping prices). Lovely, delicate use of toasty, vanilla-scented oak. A stunner.
