Yamazaki Distillers Reserve 70cl
Japan
Japanese Whisky with Mizunara Finish
Description
The Yamazaki Distillery was established in 1923 by Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii, making it Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery. Yamazaki is the flagship distillery in the House of Suntory and makes some of the most highly sought out whiskies in the world. Distiller's Reserve is the entry point into the Yamazaki range and draws on components aged in American, Spanish, and Japanese Mizunara oak, each contributing a distinct layer to the final blend.
Tasting Note
Highly aromatic and fruity, with dominant notes of strawberry, cherry, and raspberry jam. Subtle undertones of mizunara incense, sandalwood, coconut, and a light whiff of pine/citrus. A velvety, smooth texture featuring a "jammy" red berry explosion—raspberry, cherry, and white peach. This is balanced by honeyed malt, oak-driven baking spices (cinnamon), and a faint hint of coconut. Medium in length, clean, and sweet with lingering notes of vanilla, gentle ginger, and oak spice.
