Gérard Bertrand is a superstar winemaker, producing an impressive array of sustainable wines in France’s Languedoc-Rousillon. He was named Master Winemaker of the Year in The Drinks Business Magazine’s The Master Winemaker 100 (2023), which celebrates the very best of the wine world. He was acknowledged for his commitment to biodynamics and for the exceptional quality of his wines, which consistently scored high marks in the magazine’s tastings. This beautifully rich Banyuls is from the Catalan slopes of the Pyrénées and is produced in a similar way to Tawny Port. It’s got plenty of dried and stewed fruits, spicy sandalwood and an orange peel finish.
