Cheese & Charcuterie

Description

This delightful wine is made from old vine Albariño grown on the Bodegas Granbazán estate in the heart of the Salnés Valley in Rías Baixas. It’s gently oaked in wood, which adds complexity without dominating the freshness Albariño is famous for. A deliciously different take on a very trendy grape variety.

Tasting Note

The nose is complex and floral with vanilla and almond notes from the oak ageing. The palate is unctuous and full, but still displays the greengage and apricot aromas typical of the Albariño grape. The finish is long with a pleasant warming peppery spice.

The Irish Sun

Careful lees-aging and a sympathetic use of oak in recent years have helped this wine, from older vine fruit, become a serial award winner. That practice has also helped the wine develop a golden lemon colour and a complex and floral nose with defined vanilla, peach, melon and almond hints. There is a richness to the palate which is full and has a noticeable saline note over a soft, ripe fruit basket and a wisp of pepper. Enjoy with: Grilled sole.
